Select your legal home-instruction route: West Virginia provides district-approved and notice-based home-instruction routes. Follow the requirements of the selected route under section 18-8-1. For the notice-based route: Provide the required notice and instructor-qualification evidence, teach the specified subjects, and arrange an accepted annual assessment. Follow the statute’s grade-specific results-submission rules. Keep Hope Scholarship rules separate: Hope participation uses a separate notice and ongoing academic reporting requirements. Do not assume the traditional homeschool submission schedule applies to a Hope participant.
