Withdraw from the current school: Complete withdrawal from any public school before beginning your independent program. Idaho does not require state homeschool registration or periodic reporting. Take responsibility for instruction: Parents choose curriculum and provide instruction. Review Idaho’s compulsory education law and the department’s FAQ; parents do not need a teaching license. Keep useful records: Idaho does not require state testing of independent homeschool students. The department recommends keeping your own learning records; dual enrollment and tax-credit participation have separate rules.
